Mentorship In Motion
A structured self-assessment across five competency areas. Each participant reflects at Baseline, Midpoint and Graduation, and the responses turn automatically into a development report the Mentee and Mentor read together.
Champs for Change equips young Africans with resources, mentoring, training and networks that turn passion for sport into dignified careers, enterprises, and leadership. Mentorship in Motion is the Stage 1 Mentee journey, delivered with Ithuba Lethu Sports Hub.
The Five Competency Areas
1. Personal Traits
passion and drive, curiosity, sense of identity, resilience, adaptability, openness
2. Domain Foundations, Sports Ecosystem
how the sport industry works, the many routes into a career in it, where you might fit
3. Collaborative Working
teamwork, working through disagreement, building relationships, knowing when to ask for help
4. Practical Skills
introducing yourself professionally, following through, planning your next steps
5. Role Model Learning
learning from others' pathways, the pivot point, applying their lessons to your own journey

How It Works
- The Mentee completes the assessment for their current round on the Take The Assessment tab, Baseline, Midpoint, or Graduation, 17 statements on a 1 to 5 scale.
- On submit, the response is saved to the programme records.
- A Participant Development Report is produced, with standardised band wording and a "to discuss together" prompt for each of the five areas, and sent to the Mentee and the programme inbox.
- Mentee and Mentor read the report together and choose one or two areas to focus on.
This is a self-reflection, not a test. There are no wrong answers, it is the map you and your Mentor use to chart the journey. A lower score later in the program often means you now understand a competency more fully and are judging yourself more honestly.
Take The Assessment
Complete the assessment for your current stage. Each round covers the same five competency areas on a 1 to 5 scale. Your responses are saved to the programme records when you submit.

Baseline, your starting picture at the beginning of the programme. Answer each statement on a scale of 1 to 5, then submit at the bottom.
Midpoint, what you have begun to demonstrate around Session 9. Answer each statement on a scale of 1 to 5, then submit at the bottom.
Graduation, what you can now do by Session 10. Answer each statement on a scale of 1 to 5, then submit at the bottom.

How the Participant Development Report is produced and where to find it.
How A Report Is Created
- A Mentee completes the assessment for their round on the Take The Assessment tab (Baseline, Midpoint, or Graduation).
- On submit, the response is saved to the programme records.
- Once the records backend is connected, each submission is scored automatically and a Participant Development Report is produced, with standardised band wording and a "to discuss together" prompt for each of the five areas.
Where To Find A Report
- The report is emailed to the Mentee and to the programme inbox on submission.
- A Mentee can view their own report on the Mentee & Admin tab by signing in with their Participant ID and email.
- An administrator can look up any participant's report from the same tab.
Note. Automatic scoring, emailing, and the online report views switch on once the records backend (a Google Apps Script bound to the response Sheet) is connected. Until then, the assessment forms still collect and store every response.
